Next week sees the first Offset Festival presents… night at one of our favourite London venues, Buffalo Bar.
The weekly night will see us put 3 of our favourite bands on stage with guest DJs from our favourite club nights in London, plus residents from Offset and Artrocker magazine.
Our first night has an experimental krautrock/post-punk feel about it, featuring krautrock legends Black Carrot - a band who have played on the same bill with the likes of Faust, The Fall, Polar Bear and Damo Suzuki. Joining them will be the the fierce originality of Factory Floor with their electronic, abrasive, and fiercely original sound, and Vile Imbeciles making a dirty, disjointed meld of punk and noise.
Sound interesting? Read on for more information.

Black Carrot ////////////////////////

Black Carrot perform cutting-edge new-wave krautrock jazz. Fierce and abstract, their unique sound nods towards Beefheart and Pere Ubu but is shot through with flavours of New York jazz skronk, and the loosest, funkiest Krautrock. The band have supported the likes of Faust, The Fall, Polar Bear and Damo Suzuki and will be bringing their unique sound to the dark basement of Islington’s Buffalo Bar.

Factory Floor /////////////////////

Supporting Black Carrot will be Factory Floor, a mysterious post-punk duo who make an electronic, abrasive, and fiercely original sound, working with vintage equipment and tape loops, layered with feedback, insistent Krautrock bass lines, and ethereally harsh vocals. Clanking and clanging rhythms recall the industrialisms of Throbbing Gristle and Cabaret Voltaire but the droning repetition is a distinctly Germanic groove of Can and Neu. With searing guitars and rumbling bass the most obvious new wave relations are PiL, Wire and Gang of Four but in fact the experimental workouts of Londoners This Heat are more accurate.

Vile Imbeciles /////////////////////

Brighton-based Vile Imbeciles feature ex-members of Neils Children and Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster, and make a dirty, disjointed meld of punk and noise. Loud & Quiet describe the band as “…genre-bending magnificence…Different and effort-less sounding.”. We describe them as vital.
