So the Breeders ATP starts today and since I’ve not yet got over the illness or the crushing sense of loss that came after such an amazing weekend. So to alleviate my blues, here are a selection of photos I took at the event:

HEALTH

Brooklyn’s Parts & Labor play a perfect mix of noise, electronica and soaring melody that really deserves to see them as famous as, say, No Age or other noise-pop contemporaries. Given how anthemic they could be on record I was thus excited about the prospect of seeing them live, at Upset The Rhythm’s 199th show.

Awesome noiseniks Parts & Labor have set an interesting challenge – they want your ten-second samples for use on their new album! The sounds you send over need to correspond to any one of these four questions:

1. What’s your favourite or least favourite sound?
2. What are you afraid of?
3. What do your parents sound like?
4. Where are you going, or where have you been?

The new issue of DVD magazine ‘Counterpart’ is available now from their MySpace, and what a line up they’ve got out this time. Artists interviewed include DNTEL, DAVE E SUGAR, EMMY THE GREAT, FRIENDLY FIRES, HOLY FUCK, JEFFREY LEWIS, MATT & KIM, METRONOMY, OPERATOR PLEASE, PARTS AND LABOR, PRICE JAMES, THE TEENAGERS, WAX STAG and YACHT, and there are music videos and performances from ANDREA’S KIT, CASY & BRIAN, THE INFORMATIONS, PLANET EARTH, WOODY ALIEN and THE XX. As if that wasn’t enough, three short films are thrown in, including Anastasia Kirillova’s ‘50 YEARS AND A FEW PUSS KITTENS WISER’, a mixed-media documentary about couples who have been married more than 50 years set to the sounds of King Creosote vs Tunng, which you can watch right now on the BBC’s Film Network. Add a unique limited edition print by Hannah Waldron, and you’ll need to be quick to snap up one of these. 500 copies only.
