Your New favourite band...

We’re so pleased to finally announce the lineup for the GUITAR HERO New Bands stage at Offset Festival 2009. We’ve had over 2000 (!) submissions through the site and it’s been a pleasure and a struggle in equal measure to hand pick the bands we loved the most.
Headlining the Saturday night are local boys done good DEAD KIDS, whose antagonistic post-punk found the perfect home on boutique label Sparrow’s Tear, home of Selfish Cunt. Saturday night also sees Offset playing host to the sublime garage fuzz-soul of THE RAYOGRAPHS and contenders for single of the year with ‘Graveyard Shift’, FRIENDSHIP – a two-piece rhythm assault with tunes that loop around your head for days.
On Sunday DETACHMENTS are playing for us before they go huge – a few fantastic singles on ThisIsNotAnExit produced by Andrew Weatherall, Trevor Jackson and Tim Goldsworthy (DFA) will be followed by the debut album in 2010 – it’s shaping up to be a blinder. We’re also thrilled to be bringing QUAD THROW SALCHOW to Offset. The band were handpicked to open the DFA’s NotWave compilation featuring the likes of James Chance and Free Blood.
Full lineup after the jump.

More names added!

We’re very excited to reveal to you our next wave of line-up announcements for Offset 2009, bringing to you the hottest bands of 2009 alongside their influences. Can legend Damo Suzuki will be making a rare UK appearance, with sets from the unfailingly awesome Dananananaykroyd, Kasms and Bo Ningen, and the Charlatan’s Tim Burgess treating us to a special guest DJ set.
Damo Suzuki will be performing an unmissable one-of-a-kind set with guest bands joining him as “sound carriers”. Dananananaykroyd will be taking over Main Stage with their post-hardcore fight pop. Join us to see shriek beat post-punkers Kasms blasting main stage away on Sunday, with Bo Ningen bringing the chaos and melody to the New Bands tent for a riotous session on Saturday evening.
Limited Earlybird tickets are still available from £45 for the whole weekend – don’t miss out!
Keep your eyes peeled for more Offset 2009 announcements!

Pornographically Surrealists

This is Offset DJ’s are very happy to be playing at Bo Ningen’s first east London headline show tomorrow (22nd of April) care of God Don’t Like It club – a totally free night at Catch in Shoreditch.
Already building up a serious live reputation for their chaotic live shows and support slots with Damo Suzuki, Drum Eyes, Screaming Tea Party & many more.
Described by This Is My Line as “Four guys with a penchant of their girlfriends’ clothes who seem to have absorbed everything that AMON DUUL ever recorded then decided to up the weirdness factor. Chaotic and unpredictable live with a seeming aversion to standing still and a love for climbing and exploring the speaker stacks, furniture and general surroundings. They smash together all the best aspects of BORIS or ACID MOTHERS TEMPLE without the faint smell of dungeons and dragons that sometimes creeps in with both. The self titled song BO NINGEN also has possibly one of the greatest melodies ever recorded and that’s a fact.”
